I'm a little late reporting it...
*glares at the piles of work on her desk which have been eating up her time* but Chapter 55 is out!
Once again translated by the wonderfully and talented Sagakure! Thanks so much dear!
Read Vampire Knight Ch. 55 on her LJ Read Vampire Knight Ch. 55 on OneManga Lots of interesting things happening! :)
SPOILERS AHEAD....I really ought to be working, so I'll try not to ramble too much (although I'll probably fail! LOL) but I'll mention a couple of the parts I liked.
Seeing Takuma interact with Shiki and Rima again was great. I like Takuma a lot and the part he plays in everything is so interesting because it's difficult to pin down exactly what it is or what it is going to be. His cheerful demeanor makes it interestingly tricky to try and read him. Considering we know that Sara was rough with him at least that once when he first woke, I have to wonder a little about the variety of his claims that she hasn't hurt him or anything like that. I could be wrong, but I feel like he may be oversimplifying a little so as not to worry Shiki and Rima or make them more insistent that he come away with them. It's kind of cute, interesting and slightly worrisome that Takuma seems to have some feelings towards Sara, even if it's not clear what they are, or what his real motives may be for staying with her. LOL I like the way Shiki is like "This is a really bad habit of yours" and Takuma's like "what's wrong with it?" hehe to me it kind of illustrates Takuma's habit of picking up / gravitating towards strays, even though Sara hardly seems to fit that description. LOL
The way he mentioned that having lived with Kaname for 10 years and having seen his pain made him look at Purebloods differently makes me wonder if he said that because he sees something in Sara that is making him feel for her, no matter how she is or isn't treating him. And of course, I wonder what the real deal is that is making him stay with her, since his answer to Shiki that it was "easier" to let it just be thought that the reason he was avoiding Kaname was because of what had happened a year ago means that it's not the real answer at all.
*likes mysteries* :D
Speaking of what Takuma said about Kaname...
*nosebleeds muchly* Poor Kaname! Takuma's description of his inner pain and the way he seemed to be punishing himself was very interesting and compelling. The fact that Takuma could see all that, and realized even then apparently that Kaname was longing for Yuki (meaning that he probably knew or guessed a lot more than most everyone else a lot sooner) is a very interesting indicator of A) how observant and insightful Takuma is and B) how much Kaname must really have been suffering for him to let it show enough for someone else to pick up on it.
Moving on to someone else who is suffering but refuses to admit it... ;)
*glomps Zero* Hey Yen, you got your wish! :D Zero did gaze angstily at his arm where Yuki touched him. ;D Wow, and what happened right afterwards, with his body acting up like it did, was both cool and scary! I wonder what that is about.
I LOVED the fact that Aido looked truly saddened that Zero refused to go see Yuki along with Yori, even though he expected it. Aido has definitely grown up some and I think he can tell now that Zero is in pain inside, and of course, he's spent a lot of the past year with Yuki as her tutor, so he probably also realizes how much she misses the hunter. But I just had to like that part a lot because Zero and Aido are such fun together. :D
I actually
*gasp* kind of liked Yuki in this chapter too. ;) She seems to be growing up and the moment when she and Aido smelled the blood and got all worried, while Yori could smell nothing and didn't immediately understand what was going on, was very interesting. It was sweet that Yori was just all "I'm sorry I can't help too" and wasn't weirded out or anything and it was sweet and telling that Yuki immediately felt that she needed to protect and return her friend safely to the human world. I wonder if Yuki is finally starting to realize the way Kaname must have felt about trying to protect and shelter her when she was in that human state now that the shoe is on the other foot.
LOL okay, I have to say, I like Sara's "well it would have been depressing if something intimate
hadn't happened, now wouldn't it?" in response to Kaname's question, that made me chuckle. Her hinting that she probably knows / guesses about what Kaname did to Shizuka is cool in a dangerous and worrisome kind of way.
I am very curious about who is the dead vampire was that Kain and Ruka found and feel very sorry for the dead young hunter that Cross and Zero found. Dang, it's a sad world where the poor kid was more afraid of living as one of "them" than of dying. And OUCH for Zero having to see that, and for, um, the Chairman's not entirely guarded turns of phrase regarding what happened. I liked the moment when Cross seemed to catch himself and realize who exactly was with him in the room. You know, if the kid had been turned, then unless there are any unknown purebloods at this party, it had to be Sara or Ouri who bit him.
*wonders* Oo! And
*sigh*... for some reason I really, really love the way Kaname looks dressed up like that in that full length jacket... sorry, it just had to be mentioned. ;)
*drools quietly* AH! Favorite part! (showing how pathetic I am) LOL Kaname and Zero look in each other's directions at the very end of the chapter. :D :D
Heh and did Zero just effectively say "This party's over"?
*finds that amusing for some reason* Although of course I'm very worried about what the impact of having two deaths at a "peace" ball will have. Especially since we've lost one vampire (possibly even a pureblood, although maybe not) and one hunter, meaning that both sides are going to have excellent reason to be ticked and to blame the other, which is usually a great recipe for disaster when it comes to tenuous peace negotiations.
Will be interesting to see what happens next!!
