Vampire Knight Birthday

Vampire Knight is turning 5 on the 24th! (It's been approx. 5 years since the first chapter of Vampire Knight ran in Lala magazine, and the official release date of the magazine is the 24th).

The Vampire Knight crew are coming over to decorate my blog over the next few days... starting with Kaname, Yuki and Zero today. Zero thinks we are being too nosy watching them... or maybe it's because the three of them are doing a lot more touching and snuggling than decorating...? 0;) So he is pulling the shade on us and telling us to mind our own business.

Tomorrow a new threesome will be in to do their part of the decorating, check back then to see who. :)

In honor of the upcoming birthday, I thought it would be fun for everyone to share memories of how and when they first started reading Vampire Knight.

Here's my story:
In fall of 2007, I was new to the world of manga. I'd never heard much about it until I came across the Fullmetal Alchemist TV series on cartoon network over the summer. I liked it, but hated the way it ended, so I when I found out that it was actually based off a book series and that that series was still ongoing, I went to Borders to check it out. Que me seeing the manga isle for the first time and feeling both intimidated and curious about the foreignness of it. (Yes, I started reading the books backwards and was like: WTF? until I saw the helpful little "STOP you're reading the wrong way!" inside the book cover. XD)

I quickly branched out to trying other manga as well, and soon I had found a new guilty pleasure. I would stop at Borders after work several times a week and spend an hour or two sipping coffee and reading various manga that caught my eye. One week, I picked up the first issue of Vampire Knight (there were only 2 out in English at that point). I was not at all into vampires at that time, but I picked it soley because of Ms. Hino's beautiful art style on the cover. At first I was kind of skimming it, like I did with most of the manga, trying to see if I was going to be interested or if I should move on to another book. Then the hotness that is Kaname and Zero impressed itself upon me and I started reading slower... and by the time I was halfway through the first book I was hooked and quickly went back for the second LOL. Those books came home with me.

I was eagerly awaiting the third book, and looking for fanfiction, etc. online, when I found out there was this thing called scanlations and that there was actually a lot more of the story all ready available. I was in nirvana. I started reading avidly, interacting with other fans, and eventually writing and... well, yeah, the rest is obsessed fangirl history. ;)

So, not that anyone really wanted to know, but there's my story. How about you all share yours? If you want to of course. I'd love to hear them!

Oh goodness, my story is far less interesting but here we go. (And no I'm not procrastinating my homework..>>)

It started with video games...somehow...Oo
Anyway, I was around eleven and was really into video games at the time. But then I came across Kingdom Hearts and I bought it because Sora's hair was AWESOME. And goofy was on the cover. Instant win!
Around half way through the game I found out that some of the characters were from Final Fantasy hence forth I bought Final Fantasy X. Love. It was epic love~
So we got a wireless internet one day (and it was like the coolest thing ever, I was twelve by now) and off I went looking for Final Fantasy stuff and came across Anime.
While looking for links to watch the Avatar (shush its awesome minus the ending!) I came across 'Chobits' and watched it. Oh imagin my shock as an innocent twelve year old!
(Gosh this is turning out to be long XD)
Two summers ago my friend kept telling me about an Anime called vampire knight, it sounded interesting enough seeing as I WAS going through an awful twilight phase at the time. (Fail D:)
Well I was hooked by episode two and they hadn't finished releasing the anime so off I went to read the manga.
And yes...thats my story. Its way longer if you want me to tell you the story of how my innocence was totally ruined by Elfen Lied. XD Now I am violent and perverted. YAY X3

The End. ^.^

Hi!
I've been watching this blog for a while, but I never worked up the nerve to comment :)
Anyways, I was introduced to Vampire Knight two years ago through a friend. I was stuck in the hospital at the time with a chronic illness and was soooo bored (I never really appreciated school until I couldn't go for nearly 6 months ^^). One day, my friend brought me the manga, and within a hour I was hooked! I've been obsessed with VK ever since XD
So, that's my boring story.

One day I cought one of my friends drawing manga, I always loved the style but never did anything about it. Anyway she tought me some of the basics in how to draw it, but she never seemed bothered about watching or reading the stuff.
But I was, I started looking at series' that cought my eye, and I ended up reading the manga Death Note, I bought a load of the books and in them I saw an advert for the anime so I watched that too, and later bought the anime.
Over night I became a massive fan of the series' yet it was the only one I had ever watched or read, so I found a recommended list for Death Note and watched Darker Than Black and Monster. My mom didn't like the latter when I got the first DVD when it came out (mainly because I was under age when I bought it and without my mom at the time).
She told me that I should watch more, let me put it, girly stuff, so I looked it up and came across Vampire Knight, I started watching it became amazed about how good it was.
There was a boy in my class (a rather nice looking boy in fact) who was also into the world of manga and anime, I recommended that he might like Vampire Knight (it was worth a shot XD). Personly, I thought that he wouldn't like it and tell me that I was some kind of freak of telling him that he might like it. But he did like it!
We were both Zeki fans, but one time he talked about them kissing. I was like WHAT?! He told me that there was a manga of it that was still ongoing and they kissed in it, he said that I could read it online. So, I did and became even more hooked on the series with the beautiful art.
Now, I read and write fanfiction. This has made me want to become a writer, which is outstanding since I never liked reading books and writing(which in both cases I do an awful lot now :D).
My friend who tought my how to draw manga says I'm a brilliant mangaka and I should do it as a profession.
I have a lot to thank VK for, and not just for the wonderful obsession, XD.

Btw, the new layout is great!

Well, my story's pretty boring actually. I was watching something on youtube and then it randomly had the 'vampire knight' show there. I started watching, loved it, then found out it had a manga!!! Therefore, i of course read all the chapters!! I loved it even more than the anime!! It was my first manga! *laughs*. This was...2008 i think...

Then i somehow ended up on SGK's blog from the onemanga site; i saw the link to fanfiction, i had no idea what it was, i think the first one i clicked on was 'forget' to say i was surprised was an understatement LOL :). Now look at me! *laughs*.

Love the layout by the way! I have no clue how you do it, but its awesome as always! Would love it even MORE without Yuuki *runs and hides from BW* like i said...NOW look at me! hahaha. Loved your newest chapter of SitD by the way! (in case my epically long review didn't mention it, haha). I'm already dying for an update! Its honestly one of my most fav KxZ stories ever!

first of all,I love the new layout! It's a great idea to play around with it for the 5-year celebration.

I was introduced to Vampire knight about a year ago. I had two friends who were into manga and anime and one of them (who's very convincing *cough* annoying *cough*)forced me to watch Bleach and I got addicted. Then my other friend, protested that I'm a real girly girl and I should read other stuff. So she gave me a enormous list of manga to read. The title that intrested me the most was Vampire Knight. It turned out to be a great idea to read that one and now I love, love, love Vampire Knight! *spaz attack* ^^

I think it’s been about a year since I first began my addiction to the series :D It began with watching the entire Nana series on Veoh when I noticed the reoccurring suggestions for Vampire Knight to the right of the player. Finally gave in when I finished and clicked on the random VK episode that kept showing up. Perhaps episode 11? The one where the story flashes back to Zero’s first getting bitten by Shizuka. In a way I was drawn to Zero’s character, but didn’t want to admit to myself that I liked gushy girly shojo anime! No way! I was done with the Sailor Moon days! Then by some random circumstance I forced myself to watch Ouran High School Hostclub and ended up loving the damn thing. Already full of shame (and boredom) I rewatched that VK episode some months later and felt compelled to finish the series. It was great timing because that’s about when season 2 arrived and the first arc in the manga ended. I think the biggest appeal this show/manga has for me is that the love triangle is so fun and frustrating. Even if you like one character more, it’s fricking hard to dislike the other because of the way Ms. Hino writes them. And that, Blackened Wing, is why I find solace in your amazing KxZ fanfic :D Now I love both equally!

Oh Gosh, it was...I want to say 2006.

At that time I was into Twilight and such, and I had been BIG into Buffy The Vampire Slayer in Middle School. So my friend said "You've got to read this Manga called Vampire Knight. It's about this Vampire high school."

EEH! Stop right there. Vampire. High school. No. I rolled my eyes and said "Vampire high school? That sounds retarded."

So I ignored it. Then about two months later, I was looking up AMVs on youtube, and I saw this one for this band I liked called "InMe" and I clicked on it, and instantly fell in love with the the manga pictures it showed and how the song seemed to show the pain on this boy's features.

....Also I was like "This dude with the tattoo on his neck is REALLY freaking hot"

Needless to say, I was a Zero girl from the start.

So I went to Onemanga.com ...which I think had about 34 chapters at the time. I finished them all in a night. I read the entire thing.

And I was hooked. I hated Kaname at first, till I went back, and re-read the entire thing, this time focusing on Kaname, and fell in love with him just as much as Zero

-Abstractular

And then I got into it again.

Let's see...

I watched anime like pokemon all the time when I was little. Then one day when I was 14, I typed in anime, and discovered something called 'manga'.

From there I discovered a little something called Vampire Knight, and I started reading it first thing I thought was; Aww, what a cute little girl!...

...it turned out to be Kaname, who is in fact - a guy. ^^; *sorry Kaname*

Then I saw saw Zero and discovered exactly who I wanted to marry when I grew up. (let me dream!)

Later on my sister and I decided to look at some KaZe yaoi fanfiction for laughs, we were like Kaname and Zero in love? Yeah right!

...now we can't stop reading the damn stuff!

BTW, I LOVE your stories!!!

Well, it all started with my sister' pestering for me to read the manga online. At that time I was hooked up with Saiunkoku Monogatari, chinese -japanese series featuring lots of bishies.. Anyways, the manga scanlations group happened to be the same as Vampire Knight one.(This was end of 2007, before SGK took over with her awesome scanlations.)

When I was finally addicted, I went on searching for any fanfics available. That was when I stumbled upon Vani's a.k.a. BlackenedWing's Crimson Door. I was really curious of the title and started reading the 1st chappie. (At this point,I knew very few characters : Yuuki, Zero and Kaname only so I had trouble understanding the whole story.) So off I go exploring for more details, and that landed me on this blog.

To be honest, I was a Zeki fan. I can't help to fall for Zero's angsty personality and the whole tragedy that the poor hunter had.( I'm a sucker for emo characters)I was pretty pissed off by Kaname for using Zero to get his girls attention. Well, that ended as soon as I had laid my eyes on chapter 25, where Zero fed upon Kaname. Coupled with BlackenedWing's and SGK's fanfics, now I'm proud to say I have converted to VK yaoi fan. XD

Anyways, my obsessions towards VK grew and soon I have started writing my own fanfic series in FFN and dwell in amvs. I have even fork out $ to buy VK merchandise that I treasured greatly *hugs KZ bedsheets*

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Vani and SGK for your awesome contributions to this fandom, be it fanarts, scanlations or fanfics.

Happy 5th anniversary Vampire Knight! Love live VK fans!

Meh, if everybody is doing it...
I can`t really remember my FIRST encounter with VK but it was definitely in summer 2008.
OHH! now I remember XD
I was just searching youtube for some new anime to watch...smth with gorgeous boys XD (yes,I am a pervert)....ok , so I saw IT!!and I ended up singing halleluja in the living room with everybody looking at me like whoa. After I finished season 1 and I wanted to kill myself because I couldn`t wait until the 5th of october for season 2 (it was the 5th...?)I started reading manga...and one faithful december day, I googled 'vampire knight fanfiction'. And I found a pretty little link 'new vampire knight fanfiction'. I clicked it ...and my life hasn`t been boring since. I discovered your blog :P
sorry for any typos ^^

How did I become a VK fan? I ask it myself sometimes. The aswer is: BOH - a slang 'word' that in Italian stands for "dunno", "I don't know" etc.

Well, I do remember how everything strated...

It was summer; I was as bored as hell because I had nothing to do, I didn't plan to go outside because of the hot temperatur and the strong mugginess. So, sitting in front of my computer with the air conditioner on, surfing the net, I came across this title on a web page for free manga reading: Vampire Knight.

Me: O.O ... o.O I'm sure I've heard of it before... it seemed interesting?

So I just clicked and started reading without much of heart in it...
After half an our later, I was absorbed in reading... and already shipping Takuma like crazy.
(Yes, it was love at first sight. *lol*)

Then, as I came upon the pic in which Kaname lets Zero drink from him, I was shocked.

Me: OoO *stares at the pic for half and our, opening then closing her mouth repeatedly without managing to utter any intelligible sound*

So, I turned a KanZe/ZeKa yaoi lover like this - all because of a picture.
And I didn't even like yaoi to begin with: that picture changed me. (Is it only me or this last thing sounds DO wrong? XD)

Well, after I finished reading all the chapters there were on the net, I told my self: "I like it! :D" (such a bright girl, ne? XD)... so, the first time I went to the comics shop with my friends (all males! How comes?! XD), I bought as many tankobon the money I had with me could.

My (male) friends: =.= Wha? Shoujo? ...title? ..."Vampire Knight"? -_-' You into those vampire things too? What's next, "Twilinght"?

...it was funny.
They're good guys, they didn't mean to be rude: we always make a bit fun of each other.
And I keep on giving them yaoi mind images every time they try to argue about my manga choices - I'm such a sweet girl.

So, now I have all the books that have been published in Italy and am patiently waiting for the next release, number ten. All the while keeping up wih online scanlations, because I hate not to know what happens.

I also have some VK gadjet: a couple of small posters and, my pride and my joy, two plushies of Zero and Kaname (which I put on my bed next to each other).

This morning I was shocked when I noticed this: plushie Zero's pants were falling down! D: I had to put them back on... and after, I checked Kaname's. But his were perfectly in place. o.o
... -.- Now, I may imagine things, but...
In the end, I couldn't suppress a surprised gasping "Kanameee! O////O" as my glance went from plushie Zero (now perfectly tidied up) to plushie Kaname and so on.

I think they're 'fraternizing'... *nodnod*
*evil smirk* Maybe a night cam to spy on them...?
XD

Well, this is how I became a VK fan and a brief excursus on my current state as a VK fan.
Hope you enjoyed reading this at least a bit - because I had fun writing it! *lol*

PS. If there're any typos, SORRY. English in not my mother tongue and I tend very much to press wrong buttons on my computer when writing in English.

woooh! It was a long time ago when I was into Vampire Knight, but I remember it like it was a couple weeks ago.
It was when I was still new to reading manga. I was in Onemanga, reading some short mangas that were like 10 chapters (they were all about the supernatural) then I saw the title Vampire Knight. My first thought was it might be something like Twilight (not a big fan of) but I started reading it anyways. When I saw Kaname and Yukki together, it was obvious it was about them then I saw Zero and I thought he was like a Jock dude (this was when I didnt know their actual hair, eyes, and skin color). When I kept reading it, I was dead wrong when I thought it was just going to be another Twilight love vampire kind of thing, I was hooked! Once I finished reading the latest chapters, I got all sad and tried to see if any other website had more chapters, but sadly no. Then somewhere around there I saw the first anime of Vampire Knight! Now I have already seen all the episodes and I have 7 books of Vampire Knight (the 8th isnt out where I'm at).

Hmm... well my story on how I got hold of the VK fandom. I don't know if my story will be interesting...

I can't really remember all of it, but... Okay, well, I think I was just done watching an anime episode (IDK what was it.) and then I was so bored, I was pressing anything on the keyboard. My sister (I think) asked what I was doing and just said I was just watching. Well, she somehow pressed on a random video (It was actually a Veoh video.) and it was Vampire Knight episode 11. I saw the opening first and then BAM! I looked for the first episode and started watching until the latest episode.

I would always wait for the next episode and start watching it no matter what. (I actually watched the anime first before started reading the manga. I was actually deeply upset when I thought the anime ended. But I didn't believe it and started looking online for the next episode before finding out the next episode doesn't exist and also found out that the manga is still on-going and so... (:)

When I went to the Phillipines, my home over there didn't have a PC, so I had.... I think I'll stop there.

Well, that's my story.

Uh... honestly I don't remenber the exact date when I found about VK ^^; What I remember is that a friend who knows that I'm addicted to vampires recomended me the anime. I saw the first chapter and I remember I told my hubby: "highly addictive". And, of course, I became addicted :D

I searched the manga and I found it online, so I started reading.... aaaaand falling on knees for it.

I already knew about FF because I had browsed it occasionally looking for fics about my favorite worlds (Dragonlance, Nightrunner, LOTR and so) and I stumbled with Vani, Yen... I read the stories in a go and one day I thought: "hey, you woman, why not send a review?". And I did it! And Yen answered me! And I was "oh, wtf, there's someone real there!" *giggles*

And then I found your blog. I send you the first message when you said that your fiancé has had an accident, I don't remember when was that.

After that.... well, I started writing fics... from the first time IN YEARS!!!!!

I have to say a big thank you to Matsuri Hino because, thanks to her work, I have refound my love for writing stories -that have been asleep for a lot of years-. Yes, now I spent all my free time sitting in front of the computer and my ass is growing as big as a cow's, but... well, one cannot have it all in life, can't we? :DDD

Well this is the first time I come across this blog & was directed here by a girl Vane, someone whose VK stories I truly enjoy reading.
I came upon this anime by chance really, one night I was on veoh & searching for episodes of Trinity blood came upon this video of an episode in season 1 of VK, that was about 2 years ago & the rest is history. I was immediately drawn to Kaname, the loneliness & somewhat pain in his eyes everytime he looked at Yukki; the way one could see Zero would do anything for her. All those things drew me in & kept me there.
The second season was even more amazing & I truly hope there will be more to come.

Thank you so much to everyone who shared their stories! I had a lot of fun reading them and finding out about my fellow fans. :) You're all a wonderful lot! And no, I'm not biased... well, okay, maybe just a little. ;)

Thank you too to everyone who was so sweet as to mention how they came across my blog or my fanfiction too! *huggles shamelessly*

If you're reading this and haven't shared your story yet, please feel free to do so! I'd love to hear about it. :)

huh,
so i've been into vampire knight for about a week now. compared to everyone else, that's pretty recent, buuuut ..
i'm totally obsesseddd with it x) .
so, i read the manga before i saw the anime, so after i read it. i was pretty sad, specially the zero + yuuki kiss scene. then i went after the anime. for some reason, i did not like the idea of a vampire knight anime, just like i didn't like the idea of twilight turning into a movie. idunno. i'm weird like that xD .
so i read everything ( in under a week .) quite impressive, i say (: !
and then i started the anime. and i'm completely hooked. zero and kaname look much hotter in person! ah , i love them .
i'm so obsessed now, can't stop thinkin about kaname and zero all day long.

and that yaoi stuff is pretty hilarious! x) this blog is amazing, btw.

welll that's my story!
and i can't waait until the next chapter comes out :D
