Five Hundred Miles AU "Deleted Scene"

Here's a little AU "Deleted Scene" for Chapter Nine of my Kaname x Yuki x Zero Fanfic "Five Hundred Miles". It's really not enough to be considered a whole AU chapter on its own, but it's enough for a scene, so I'm posting it here in case anyone wants to read it.

It will make way more sense if you've read the story it comes from first, but you can certainly feel free to read it on its own if you want to, just heed the warnings in the header.

AU Scene for Five Hundred Miles Chapter Nine
by Blackened Wing

Rating: M

Summary: An alternate ending to the chase / escape through the jungle in chapter nine. What if Salvaje and Kaname were knocked off the truck? Leaving Kaname injured, dazed... and hideously vulnerable.

Warnings: Yaoi (m/m), violence, decapitation, rape / non-con. Nothing is terribly graphically described, but still, if any of those bother you DO NOT READ THIS. It's a hurt/comfort scene, so everything ends up okay, but it is pretty dark to start. If that might bother you, DON'T READ.

Pairings: (For Five Hundred Miles overall: Kaname x Yuki x Zero.)

For this particular scene: OC x Kaname (non-con) and Zero x Kaname (comfort).

Series: This AU is from a story that is part of the Trio Series, which follows Kaname, Zero and Yuki and their relationship as based off of my story "Crimson Door".

If you have not read any of my stories before, please be aware that they are part of an ongoing AU series, and please read the header of Five Hundred Miles for more information, and understanding of why characters are probably acting quite differently from how they do in the manga.

A/N: This came about due to my friend Sagakure's uh... inspiration... ;D The setting for the scene is in Chapter Nine of my fanfic "Five Hundred Miles", following a slightly different path after the fight in the back of the truck breaks out. Some elements may seem similar to the actual story, but it is AU from the story because obviously, things happen differently. In reality, I figured Kaname had been through enough and didn't want to mess them up too much more before the end, but then there was this persistent little bunny that wouldn't let go... so the convenience of AU's was invoked. :D

If you've read both, I'm sure you'll note that Zero's reaction to Salvaje's death is pretty different between the two versions, but that's to be expected because it's directly tied to what led up to it in this case.

Disclaimer: Vampire Knight and its characters do not belong to me. They belong to their inspired creator Matsuri Hino. I borrow them without permission, but with great affection. This story is for entertainment purposes only; no money is being made from it.

-------------------------------------------------------

Salvaje slammed into Kaname at the same moment that the truck jolted over a bone jarring bump. The pureblood's bare feet slipped and slid on the bottom of the truck bed, made slick with rainwater and blood. He fought for balance, but could find no purchase. His equilibrium was still sorely fragile and a heartbeat later both the pureblood and the level E were tumbling over the side of the moving truck, falling backwards into darkness.

"NO! Kaname!" Zero shouted in horror as the two vampires disappeared as if the jungle had swallowed them, the racing truck swiftly carrying him away from them. He bolted forward, about to vault the side of the truck despite the speed they were going. But a heavy weight slammed into his back, throwing him forward. One of the rebels had leapt from the truck racing beside them and tackled him. Zero's head hit the side of the truck hard, splitting his lip and narrowly avoiding breaking his nose. The world spun in flashes of light and dark as he fought the pain, struggling instinctively with the man trying to restrain him. He felt the blade of a knife against his throat, but his reflexes were faster. He jabbed his arm back harshly into a soft gut, snapping ribs and rolling away to the side even as he heard the thud of another pair of boots striking the truck bed as more bandits piled into the back of the vehicle, seeming heartened by having only one of the creatures back here to fight now. Oh this was not good. Zero's heart was racing as he scrabbled backwards, sloshing in the gathering water as more rain sheeted into his eyes. Despite the danger, his gaze kept snapping with sickening urgency towards the dark, swiftly retreating jungle behind them. Kaname! The pureblood was still incredibly fragile, and he was out there somewhere with a crazed level E who'd had a taste of him and was now amped up on pure vampire blood. He had to get off, he had to get out, he had to get back there!

Zero snap-rolled to the side as a bullet punched through the metal where his head had been a moment ago and he unwillingly dragged his focus back to his own situation. He'd do Kaname no good dead.

----------------------

Kaname and Salvaje crashed backwards into the trees, the momentum of the truck and their own fall making them tumble wildly. The angle of their fall meant that Kaname hit first, absorbing the worst of the impact as they ploughed into a dark tangle of bracken and rocks. The small branches whipped and tore bloody gashes into pale skin and dark, dripping leaves slapped fluttered like a crazy flock of angry bats.

Instinctually, Kaname grabbed for his powers to try and break the agonizing, dangerous tumble, but the renewed explosion of pain in his head reminded him viciously why that was a bad idea. Suddenly his sideways tumble was stopped as his body finally encountered something immovable. He slammed hard into the side of a large tree, loosing a torrent of water from above as rain shook off the tree's branches at the impact. The side of his head bounced off the rough bark... and Kaname's world dissolved into sickening, spinning lights and darkness.

Salvaje was significantly banged up by their fall as well, but he was too gone to feel it. Lost in blood lust and high on the taste he'd gotten of Kaname, he was like an addict on angel dust. He felt no pain despite his broken ribs, gashes and bullet wounds. All he felt was burning, consuming, mind shredding hunger and desire.

Having come to rest partially beside, partially on top of Kaname, Salvaje pushed up on his hands and shook himself as he tried to clear his head. Water droplets flung clear of the ends of his long hair, mingling with the rain that was still pouring down upon them even under the tree. Kaname was limp beneath him, sprawled on his back, his blood mingling with the falling rain. The pureblood's eyes were closed, but Salvaje was intensely aware of each beat of the heart in Kaname's chest as it pumped his intoxicating blood through his body and out through a dozen cuts and scrapes that were making the pureblood the best smelling thing this side of heaven. He was definitely still alive. For now.

Kaname stirred slightly, pain blazing through every inch of his body. His brain felt like it was on fire. Slamming into the tree had not done him any favors, and just as bad, it had once again brutally rattled the bullet fragments around in his head, tearing fragile brain tissue in ways it was never meant to be torn. Ways that would have already killed a human or a lesser vampire many times over.

Proving the cruelty of whatever curse or unlucky star this whole misadventure seemed to be under, Kaname was just aware enough to partially grasp that he was hideously vulnerable and in danger. Just aware enough for his insides to crawl in terror at being so helpless with a mad level E hovering over him, but he was not remotely coherent enough to do anything about it, or offer any kind of resistance besides groaning softly in pain as Salvaje shifted closer. The pureblood's abused body trembled uncontrollably under the onslaught of the rain and his own weakness. He felt nauseous and sick to his stomach.

Salvaje appeared pleased that his prey was stirring. It was so much more satisfying when they were awake. Leaning forward swiftly, he bent his head to the pureblood's throat, one hand tangling in Kaname's long, dripping hair as he yanked the other vampire's head back, forcing the pale, delicious throat to arch vulnerably, like Kaname was begging to be taken. Then his fangs were tearing into the skin, puncturing the carotid artery and capturing the explosive flow of blood with a deep, feral howl of satisfaction.

Kaname cried out in pain, desperately trying to claw at the vampire ravaging his neck. But his sluggish, unresponsive lips turned the cry into an agonized whimper and his equally unresponsive body merely writhed feebly under his attacker, his hands scrabbling drunkenly and ineffectively against the other's shoulders.

Salvaje easily caught Kaname's wrists and pinned them to the wet earth on either side of the pureblood's head as he drank ravenously. He was so enraptured with the unimaginable delight of the blood flowing into him, that he was ironically not as destructive as he might have been otherwise. With anyone else, Salvaje probably would have ripped their throat completely out by now and be feasting on their flesh as well as their blood. But for reasons he barely comprehended, Salvaje didn't want the pureblood to die too soon. Kaname's blood was healing his injuries and momentarily slacking the burning hunger in his ravaged mind. He was far too far gone for it to have any long lasting good effect on him, but it brought him a little lucidity, which was both good and bad. Good, because he was marginally rational enough to not kill his victim too fast, before he'd gotten his fill of him. Bad, because with the momentary tempering of one type of hunger, others were able to flare. His senses were full of the pureblood and he needed more... He needed everything. Kaname's blood had plunged his already failing mind into a dark, beautiful, depraved, glittering abyss of carnal vampire need driven only by instinct, thirst and desire. The overwhelming urge to consume and possess was uncontainable.

After all that had happened these past few days, Kaname wasn't wearing much. What he was wearing was swiftly and easily dealt with. The reeling pureblood shivered in agony, fear and revulsion as Salvaje's hands clawed at him, tearing away his pants and leaving Kaname naked and bloody on the jungle floor. The ex-human's teeth were still biting and tearing into his neck, viciously bolting his blood like a beast and making his already whirling head spin even more dazedly as his strength was drained away mouthful by mouthful. But apparently it wasn't enough for Salvaje to take his life, the level E wanted his body too. It wasn't a surprise, really. There was a decidedly sexual component to the act of sharing blood and it wasn't that unusual for blood drinking and seduction or forced blood drinking and rape to go hand in hand. The seductive vampire stereotype that had become popular in human entertainment in recent times probably had some vague basis in that fact.

However, that didn't make the shock any less as Salvaje's rough hands touched Kaname where he did not want to be touched, nor did it lessen the humiliation as the level E possessively caressed his heaving side and spread the pureblood's thighs. Kaname's senses screamed and throbbed, a confused jumble of sensations and input that he couldn't process making him feel like one gigantic raw nerve. Salvaje's touch felt like someone was dragging a red hot garden claw down his side one minute, and like silk the next. He didn't feel firmly rooted to the ground, he felt like he was floating, but the crazy vampire's vicious teeth and probing hands kept bringing him crashing down again, pinned to this hell like a butterfly pinned to a collector's wall.

Kaname didn't remember Salvaje undoing his own trousers, time seemed to be passing too fast, leaving him with only moments and impressions. The rain. Salvaje's eyes. His clawed hand grabbing Kaname's knee and pulling it up, pinning it against his side. Hot, hard flesh pressing against his vulnerable body in a way that was both familiar and horribly foreign. Yes, everything seemed to be going too fast, yet at the same time, it seemed to be taking an eternity.

Kaname tensed, a sob of pain rattling in his chest and tugging his torn neck agonizingly against Salvaje's fangs as the level E forced himself on him, hips ramming forward savagely, possessing his body as brutally as he was possessing his neck.

No! No, no, no... Kaname realized he was moaning the words aloud, semi-delirious and dangerously close to pleading, but Salvaje paid him no mind. Kill me, but don't do this... don't let this be the last thing I remember. The pureblood's soft, choked screams of pain, rage and helplessness mingled with the rain.

Desperately, he closed his eyes and clung to his memories of Zero. He tried to pretend it was his body pressed against him, his teeth tearing into him. It didn't quite work, because Zero would never be so cruel, but if this was the last thing he was going to know in this world, he wanted his final thoughts to be of someone he loved.

Suddenly Salvaje jerked, body convulsing and his fangs tore out of Kaname's neck as he reared back. Kaname didn't open his eyes. He didn't have the strength or the willpower. The world was awash in input he couldn't process. Maybe it would be a relief when death finally came. Some spinning part of his mind thought that Salvaje was climaxing already and the urge to throw up increased exponentially, only it seemed like even that would take too much from his battered body. Dazed and in agony, Kaname drifted, semi-conscious, waiting for it all to end.

Salvaje convulsed again, but this had nothing to do with pleasure. Blood flowed down his shirt and spurted across the ground and the naked, disturbingly broken looking form of the pureblood below him. The fact that Kaname didn't even react to that or seem aware of it was frightening.

The figure behind Salvaje kept the mad vampire's head firmly canted back by a tight grip on the roots of his hair with one hand while the other swiftly and precisely slashed the sharp knife he was holding across the level E's throat again and again. The blade was sharp, but small, and even with vampire strength it took multiple cuts to hack the mad ex-human's head from his shoulders.

Zero held Salvaje still with binding charm he'd hit him with while he wielded the knife, finishing the business as cleanly as he could, given the circumstances. He was an experienced hunter by now. He had killed his fair share of mad vampires. He could empathize with their cruel fate, but he could also do his job. Unlike some, he was never over-zealous about the work, he always took targets out as quickly and painlessly as possible. Brutality was not inherent in his disposition, but practicality and caution were. He was an experienced hunter and he couldn't afford to leave anything to chance. Salvaje had obviously just drunk copious amounts of pure vampire blood. The only way to be sure that he was truly dead at this point, was to decapitate and stake him.

It was a hideous, horrible task, but Salvaje had made it much easier for him by what he'd done. What Zero had seen when he'd come running up just now was going to stay with him and haunt his nightmares for years to come. His lover's piteous sobbing cries of agony, Salvaje holding Kaname down, tearing his neck out while he rutted bestially into the pureblood's beautiful, broken body... Zero jerked the knife back one more time and the other vampire's head toppled to the ground, his body slumping to follow it. No. He could not feel bad about this. Not one little bit. He could feel pity for whoever Salvaje had once been, but he'd ceased being that person a long time ago and Zero's heart burned with satisfaction at avenging the unforgivable brutality and harm that had been done upon his lover.

Silently, Zero bent and stabbed the short knife down into the limp body's chest, aiming for the heart. He'd gotten the knife off one of the bandits who had attacked him a few minutes ago, during their fight. It wasn't exactly a stake, but it would have to serve. Apparently, it was enough. Salvaje's body crumbled to pale dust, leaving only his clothes behind as the dust quickly darkened and began to wash away in the rain. Dust to dust, ashes to ashes...

With the threat removed, Zero's attention turned quickly to Kaname. The pureblood still lay curled on the ground, frighteningly still and unmoving. Kaname was still bleeding sluggishly from his many wounds, one of the only ways to tell he was actually alive.

"Kaname?" he whispered gently, garnering no response. Zero's eyes stung and burned, blurring with moisture that had nothing to do with the rain as he carefully knelt down and leaned over Kaname, drawing the wounded pureblood into his arms with the utmost tenderness. He scooted closer to the tree trunk, trying to hold Kaname so that his body shielded the other vampire from the rain. Kaname was naked and now beginning to shiver again. Grabbing Salvaje's shirt from the ground, he covered some of Kaname's body with it. He hated to use anything so soiled, or anything that belonged to the person who had attacked the pureblood, but it was all he had available. He would have given Kaname the shirt off his back, but he didn't have one either and Kaname obviously needed whatever paltry attempts at warmth and comfort Zero could offer.

Zero clamped his hand as gently as possible over the torn side of Kaname's neck, staunching the blood flow. It was a testament to how concerned he was, and how much he loved this vampire that even though everything was drenched in Kaname's blood, at the moment, it was not kicking up his own instincts or needs. He was too worried and too incredibly sick at heart.

If only he'd gotten there faster... if only he had protected Kaname better. Kaname had been hurt like this by a vampire that he'd been sent here to kill. If he'd done his job better... It was unforgivable.

"Kaname... wake up, please," Zero murmured, his voice cracking and breaking. Soft, heart-rending sobs started to shake his chest. Too much. It had all been too much, ever since the plane went down, and now this... "Please... I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Kaname," he sobbed softly, anguished tears pouring down his face now, mingling hotly with the rain as he kissed his lover's forehead and his wet, matted hair.

Kaname tensed at the hand on his neck... but the arms holding his body had changed somehow. They cradled him gently now. Now they felt like Zero's arms. Kaname was too weak, to far past the breaking point. He was too afraid to open his eyes and dispel the illusion. If his mangled senses were playing tricks on him this way, then let them. It was a good hallucination. He actually relaxed into the arms of whoever held him. Yes... this was all right. He could almost smell Zero, almost hear him... or at least imagine that he did. He could die like this and it was okay. Perhaps fate had a faint kind streak after all.

Soft fingers caressed his face, soft lips brushed his forehead and despite himself, Kaname's eyes fluttered weakly, automatically open. He blinked up with glassy, unfocused, unevenly dilated eyes towards the face hovering just over his. Ah... it was a very good hallucination. It even looked like Zero.

A faint, totally unexpected, peaceful smile ghosted across Kaname's lips. "Love... you..." he murmured to the dream Zero, voice barely audible.

Zero's heart leapt as Kaname's eyes opened, although it was still pounding in concern because the pureblood was obviously out of it again. Harsher sobs tore through Zero's chest, he tried to hold them back but he just couldn't. "Love you too, you've gotta stop worrying me like this, all right?" he cried softly, trying to smile. "I should have been faster, I should have protected you... I'm so sorry..." he could hardly breathe around the pain tearing his heart out of his chest.

Zero's guilt, or perhaps the passage of time, was starting to convince Kaname that this wasn't a hallucination at all. Hope touched his weakly thudding heart. Maybe it wasn't quite his time yet after all. "Zero?"

"Yes, Kaname, it's me, I'm here. It's okay now, shh..." Zero tried to sooth as Kaname seemed to struggle for a little more lucidity.

A soft, unintentional shivering sob that he'd never have allowed if he were in control of himself shuddered through Kaname's body and he instinctively curled closer to Zero, clinging to him now that he knew he was real. "You came," he murmured softly. It wasn't that he hadn't expected Zero to come for him if he could... actually, the fact that he had expected him to was part of what was so reassuring and precious now. Kaname was a pureblood. He was supposed to be the strongest of the strong. He took care of other people, they didn't take care of him. And if he fell, if he was weak... then he was one his own, and it meant torment and death. But no... no it didn't, because he wasn't alone. He had someone he could trust to stand by him, even when he was broken and helpless. That meant the world to him.

Zero held him tightly, pulling Kaname in as closely to his body as he could to share his body heat, cradling the pureblood gently. "Of course. Of course I did, Kaname. I'm so..." he started apologize again, his own chest still trembling with sorrow.

"Shuttup," Kaname slurred, just barely managing to get a touch of his normal dryness around his incredibly messed up state. "Quit appolp.. aaplopp... saying sorry..." the pureblood stumbled on the word apologizing but still get his message across. "You always... do that. Not your fault."

Zero still begged to differ, but his lover's words were at least a little helpful to the burning pain in his chest. "Okay, have it your way, as usual," he murmured, his tone incredibly tender and gentle.

Kaname leaned his head against Zero's shoulder, curling further into his embrace without shame. He was so tired... his body needed to shut down for a little while so it could repair the damage Salvaje had done. If he was alone, he could not have thought of such a thing... but he was not alone. He was with Zero, and Zero would watch over him, like he always did. "Just hold me..." Kaname murmured faintly.

Zero intended to do just that and he stroked Kaname's hair, rocking him gently as they sat together. The Kaname he usually knew was all strength, composure and raw power. Strength enough to even save them both from what should have been a fatal plane crash. It hurt deeply to see him like this, yet the trust Kaname exhibited in him at a moment like this... it was deeply precious and Zero treasured it, just like he treasured the pureblood with every beat of his heart.

"I will," Zero promised softly. "I love you," he murmured, his throat constricting.

Kaname smiled faintly as he started to drift off, safe in Zero's embrace. I know.

THE END

As Sagakure always love XD a bottomed Kaname lol.. I have doubt on a Level E conscious enough(from bloodlust) to rape but... *shrug* oh well. anything's possible ya? XDDD

Wow. *blinks* I knew you and Sagakure both love Kaname to bits... but to torture him like THAT... *shakes her head* Well, your love for him shows no bounds, I'll say that! *grins*

Poor Kaname... and poor Zero's in even more agony for not getting there in time. How can you write such angst the way you write tender fluff? *cries* So well, I mean... *cries even more*

*takes a deep breath* OK, Vani, enough with angst for now, ya? *grins* Finish that datefic and post it! LOL, I could do with something sweet and fluffy right about now... *mops tear reddened eyes*

Yumiii: LOL! Yeah, I doubt it was really a concious thing, my thought was that it was kind of on the instinctual level, not a concious choice, but *chuckles* that is part of why it's just AU and not an actual part of the story. I'll go with you though... anything's possible. ;)

YenGirl: *nervous chuckle* LOL um... yes, 'to bits' being the operative word sometimes. *glares at her muse who is dancing around with torture implements in the background and shoves her into a closet, attempting (and failing) to look innocent*. XD

LOL don't worry *offers tissues* Next fic will indeed be loads of uber-fluffy ;D so there will be a nice break before I go back to angst... ;)

Yay for fluffy fic! *jumps up and down*

Oh dear... *opens closet door a crack and pushes in some cushions to make muse more comfortable*

*giggles as she watches her muse take the cushions and happily start plotting how they could be used in either evil or lemony contexts...* XD

Wow. That was amazing. I loved everything about that AU scene except the actual non-con part. Poor Kaname and poor Zero. Still, it was needed to make the rest of the scene so tender and sweet. I can see why you didn't put it in the story, but I'm glad you posted it.

Thanks.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, poor them indeed! But at least it could make the comfort all the more sweet. ;)

Thanks again!

This was awesome and should've been the REAL chapter 9, but anyways..... *looks at muse* Why don't you ever let me write Vampire Knight stories?! *cries*

KATZUNITED-MEOW: Thanks! So glad you liked it!! *sends your muse lots of chocolate and caffiene to try and bribe her to inspire you to write VK* XD
