SPOILERS BELOW:
WOW, things have definitely heated up and it is SO awesome to see the whole Night Class in fullswing combat mode. I love how protective some of our favorite vamps are of the humans, etc. Especially coming from Ruka, the line about wanting to protect all the innocent, silly day class girls was really cool. And I like how they show via the random nightclass students at that one point that the whole idea of co-existance really
was working, because minds and hearts were being changed through the school. :)
Kain and Ruka fighting together was just adorable and entirely kick-ass. XD As was Kain's worrying about Aido and wanting to finish up quickly so he could go find him. I just KNEW he felt protective of his cousin like that. :D
Speaking of, Aido was awesome. I loved seeing him in action. I love seeing all the vamps use their powers and fight, it gives me happy shivers LOL. I love how Aido was being vicariously protective of Kaname too, all upset knowing that Rido was the cause of Kaname's hurt and unhappiness all these years. *huggles the sweet blonde*
OH man... the Aido / Rido interaction was just SCARY though!! It was frightening to see Rido able to exert such power, to subvert Aido's will and make him come to him, or at least start to semi-pass out there.
*shivers* but scary in a good way because Aido ends up all right!
*whew* It was really awesome to see the true power of purebloods though. We suddenly realize that Kaname has indeed been a very tame vampire his whole life, having the power he does and for the most part not using it, or at least not using it for evil. Seeing someone like Rido, who is unscrupulous about his ability to manipulate those beneath his blood... it's quite interesting and terrifying.
Oh gosh, I LOVED that YUKI saved Aido there.
*huge, ear-splitting grin* That was just so cute!! Go Yuki for being a pureblood and able to withstand Rido's power! :D
If I may digress for a moment, I couldn't help thinking how this really demonstrates quite well that even the noble class would need someone to protect them from unscrupulous purebloods, making the idea I'd had of the whole Syndeo set up make more and more sense. Anyway, digression over, back to the chapter...
So then Zero shows up. Oh. My. God. Zero. Managing to prove that having vines growing out of you and wrapping around you can in fact be quite sexy looking if midly disturbing and wildly frightening at the same time. He is very cool here, and it's awesome how much his power has visibly grown. In one of the frames when the vines hit, you can kind of see the symbol like we saw in the air that one time he fired the Bloody Rose over Aido's head. I have to wonder if that's because he fired the gun (which now seems to be either part of the vines, part of Zero, or formed by the vines, I'm not quite sure) or if it's supposed to mean that the vines are in some way capable of being anti-vampire weapons themselves. Not a clue, guess we'll find out sooner or later.
It was interesting... in the panels where he and Yuki just look at each other, (both of them so changed now, so different from who and what they thought they were - kind of an angsty and interesting moment) Zero actually looks a wee bit more like Ichiru than Zero to me, but it could just be the angle and the expression on his face. But I wonder if it was intentional at all because of him having absorbed his brother like he has.
It's sad that Zero considers Yuki his enemy, but it's kinda clear that it's really in name only. He doesn't
really hate her, I don't think he ever could, it's just that she's a pureblood now, which defaults her to enemy status by the same broad brush that always painted Kaname in that location as well. I wonder if Zero knows that Yuki didn't know what she was all those years or if he thinks she did. If he thinks she did, then I can understand why he would feel doubly hurt and upset, like she was toying with him that whole time.
Really though, I'm not worried on their count because I'm pretty sure the angst between them because of their transformations is merely for adding emotional impact to the current plot crisis. They'll work it out eventually.
*nods* You know... providing they both survive. LOL I'm kind of worried about how Kaname works into the whole picture though.
*hugs him* and am anxiously looking forward to seeing what's up with him, hopefully next chapter I presume, since we seem to be going back and forth with the character focus.
Since we haven't seen much of Takuma in the current fighting, I wonder if he's still at the school, or if he went off to the same place Kaname did. If Kaname's headed for a showdown with Ichijo and/or the Council... that would be interesting and angsty. Also, we've not heard from Cross and Yagari this chapter... *worries for them muchly*
Wow, so much happening, so much still to find out! This is such a great series! :D
Oh, and I also read over on the chapter post that there will be no new chapter of VK next month.
*sniffs* but Ms. Hino deserves a break and I hope she has a good one. The month after the chapter will be even longer though, so that's cool!
