Misadventures Making out with Fangs
Okay, finally sliding a moment in edgewise to post something about last weekend. :) First, let me just say that I am once again working away on the next chapters of Blood Moon and Five Hundred Miles. Gonna be a little bit longer before they're done, but it's in the works, promise.
Now, about the weekend... it was good. I went out of town, partially for business, partially for pleasure. I had some work related meetings saturday evening that required me to go almost clear across the State, but earlier in the day in the same city they just happened to be having an Anime Con. Heh. Well, I've never been to one before so I thought I would go. It wasn't a huge deal, I think it was kind of a local thing, but it was a lot of fun. Everybody was great, crazy and having a good time.
Since I was signficantly far enough away from home that no one would recognize me (not that anyone I know on this side of the computer would go to an anime con anyway *sigh*) I actually screwed up the courage to go in costume. :D I have one of the Night Class uniforms sold by Moon Costumes - they're really well made and lovely. I wanted to get the guy's uniform, but it wouldn't have looked right with the way I am shaped unfortunately, so I got the girl's uniform, but that's still pretty too. I was so afraid I was going to look like a total dork, but was relieved to find that nearly everyone there was dressed up, so I fit right in. LOL I even saw another member of the Night Class wandering around in there!
They had anime running on a big projection screen all day in one of the halls, and I was very surprised and pleased to find that they started off the day in there by playing the first three Vampire Knight episodes! LOL I was like - Hey, I've seen those! And I know who translated them! (They were using Shoku Dan's subbed versions). So that was cool. It was neat seeing VK on a big screen, almost like a movie. It was also nice because a lot more people recognized what I was cosplaying after that. ;D
I was afraid I was going to feel awkward, being so much older than a lot of the other people attending, but was pleasantly surprised to find that A) I wasn't the only person around my age there and B) everybody of every age was really nice and would just talk to and befriend almost anyone on the spot. LOL of course everybody was pretty much going by their cosplay names, so I got to know two Innuyashas, three Narutos, two Kikiyos, two Sescas, a Kagome, a Link, more Lights than I can remember to count and a bunch of other really nice folks whose costumes I didn't recognize. (Yes, I'm certain I didn't spell all that right :P)
Anyway, it was a really good time and I was very sorry to have to leave when it came time for me to cut out and go get ready for my business meeting. I stayed at the hotel through Sunday though and my fiance came over and joined me, so we got a little downtime together which was great since his work keeps him on the road and away so much.
He... um... knew I'd been to the Con the day before, and insisted on seeing me in my costume. *blushes deeply* He pronounced the psuedo schoolgirl look to be kinda sexy, although I think he was just trying to be nice. He did actually really like the teeth though. ^^ I was surprised. I had an extra pair of the Scarecrow brand caps that I use with me, in case the pair I'd been using started acting up (my left fang is getting loose). So on a whim I molded the extra set for his teeth (they're not overly expensive, I'll get another). I thought they'd be a little too small but they fit okay. I'm really not sure if he wanted it as much as I wanted it, but he was a great sport about the whole thing and seemed interested, so... *shrugs*. Anyway, we had a great time doing a little light nibble-nibble on each other *chuckles*. He doesn't know VK of course, but was being all Count Daracula on me. *coughs and shakes head* it was cheesy, but it was fun. Gotta say though... making out with fangs... yeah, it was really hot. Uh... until that darn loose left cap of mine came off, my fiance nearly swallowed it and went into a choking fit. *flushes madly and crawls under a rock even though she's still laughing* LOL yeah, so that kinda ruined the mood, but we laughed ourselves silly about it afterwards, that's for sure.
'kay, see, now that was all much more about my life than any of you wanted to know, I'm sure. *rolls eyes* I'll shut up and stop rambling now. End of the month deadlines finish up this week, so I'm looking forward to the pressure at work easing off a bit. My muse is looking forward to it too, she's sitting behind me throwing darts at anything in the hall that moves because she's so bored with me not writing. Of course that means none of my cooworkers want to come around... except those darn supervisors who will insist on braving the darts to pester me about is this done yet? Is that done yet? Geesh... uh oh, think I hear one coming now... *scuttles off to pretend to be busy at work again* ;)
