I'm torn between the urges to draw or write something in that setting too, and the utter weirdness of Kaname in a swimsuit, hahaha. XD XD

But Aidou making shaved ice is PURE WIN~! XD
I'm not sure if shaved ice is popular in the west too, but it's a big thing in the summer in Japan, and the way it's eaten is that you have a cup/bowl/etc of ice shaved in tiny bits, and you pour a sweet syrup on top, then eat with a spoon. :D
There's tons of flavors, going from the more "basic" stuff you can get at any outdoors festival, all the way to more fancy and elaborate gourmet-ish flavors. (Guess which they'd have at the Moon Dorm... *lol*) XD

I feel that perhaps Kaname would eat his with something fancy like Uji green tea syrup. <3
(I might be biased because I love that on shaved ice, and because of a fic I read where he liked sampling different types of green tea, and it stuck with me. XD But then again, tea + vampires = lovely and somewhat canon, so maybe it really would work! XD)

As for Yuuki and Zero, not sure. Maybe Yuuki would like something sweet and simple/cute, like strawberry?

Although... the green tea idea blocked that thought from my mind, but I actually think there's another flavor that would be an almost certain match for Kaname. *-*
The other day, I went to a place that makes custom mix smoothies, with the intent of making a "Kaname x Yuuki x Zero mix", but they were out of rose syrup, which was my choice for Kaname. ;-;
Now that I remember that, I actually think perhaps Kaname would have that on his shaved ice, rather than green tea syrup... maybe he can alternate. X3
Kaname + roses = a regular occurence in the series after all, and when he went on vacations he was admiring the roses blooming, and brought all sorts of roses stuff back as gifts, including rose tea for the chairman. If I'm not wrong, it should be the same type of roses used to make tea and to make the type of syrup that goes in the smoothies etc, so... perhaps it would really be a thing Kaname would pick? XD XD

I had gone for strawberry for Yuuki's flavor for the smoothie too, and was going for honeydew melon for Zero, though that was completely and entirely random. XD
What do you think he'd like? XD

*still wants that custom smoothie, hopes they'll have the rose flavor again next time* XD
(I had a rose smoothie before, it's really strong and utterly delicious. X3 Totally a Kaname-like flavor, hahaha. (Err, that just sounded very wrong. XD XD;;; *lol*))

Sagakure: I think shaved ice must definitely be more popular in Japan. At least in the places I've lived, I've always heard them called Snow Cones, but they're primarily a little kid thing and are usually pretty much only found at carnivals or stuff like that, and only with limited flavors (usually just something like Cherry, Orange or Blue Rasberry etc.) Ice cream tends to be more popular. That's just where I've lived though, maybe other places it's different.

Dang, the way you describe them with all the different flavors and all sound really yummy! Bet it's way less calories than ice cream too. Now I want some! *starts googling for snow cones and shaved ice in her area*

I like your thinking on what flavors they'd like. :D Since I've never really had those, I couldn't really guess on flavors for Zero or any of them, but if we turn the question to ice cream, I'd go with Chocolate for Kaname, Strawberry for Yuki (LOL we pick the same for her) and Vanilla for Zero. Hey that means all three of them together could share a metropoliton (vanilla/strawberry/chocolate ice cream mix). ;D Absolutely no reason at all for those choices though except it sounds good. LOL that and I like having Kaname and Zero with opposing ice cream colors. *chuckles and rolls her eyes* If we get into more fancy ice cream flavors though, who knows, there's so many. My favorite is mint chocolate chip. :)

Yeah, I think it's more popular in Japan. I actually first tried the Uji green tea syrup one in Shibuya, a fashionable & trendy shopping area in Tokyo, so not the type of place where you'd expect to find that sort of thing in other countries, as far as I've seen. XD *lol*

As for less caloric, not so sure.... those syrups are pure sugar, and it's so easy to be tempted to put more. XD XD *lol*

I can't help but think of sophisticated ice-cream flavors as well, because it's VK, and especially with Kaname, it has to be all fancy, hahaha. XD

Have you ever tried champagne ice-cream? In Europe, it was customary to serve it after a main dish that had been kind of greasy, so that people's palates could feel completely refreshed/cleansed before moving to the next dish. (A habit from aristocracy, but that was lost a while ago). But it's also served as a normal dessert/refreshment.
It's such a delicious flavor of ice-cream, and so ethereal. I can't help but think Kaname's flavor would be that ice-cream.

As for Zero, Rhum & raisins, maybe? (Again, I pick something strange for him, just because I like rhum and raisins ice-cream, haha XD)

As for Yuuki, perhaps a sorbet of mixed berries flavored with a sweet liquor such as Chambord... *-* That would mix both her sweet pre-chapter-35 self and the more powerful post-chapter-35 side. *-* (An attempt of not sounding too spoilery for the people who may wander by and read our talk. XD XD *lol*)

My mind is like a constant VK fangirling mess. XD *lol*

I also love cooking and coming up with desserts and things (like that Yuuki flavor, I don't think it normally exists. *just had the idea for it* XD Now I have a craving. XD;; *must make some some time*)

Champagne ice-cream sounds delicious! I've never had it. *laments the boringness of the shops around her* I agree though, that's a great fit for Kaname. Good choices for Zero and Yuki too. Yum! I love Rum Raisin as well and Chambord. :D Um, not together, I ment... well, you know what I meant. ;)

Yeah, beverages are another interesting one to think about... well, as I mentioned in BM, I kinda like absinthe for Kaname just because of how cool it looks to prepare and the feeling of 'history' that goes with it. I also see him as probably liking fine wines, champaigns and other drinks of that nature. I'm fond of things like chocolate martinis, but I probably wouldn't foist that off on him. heh

For Zero... Hm... well I could see wine for him too (if his expiriance in BM doesn't put him off it for a while LOL). Maybe Long Island Ice Tea and Rum Runners or something like that too... *is making herself thirsty*

Again, I'd probably go fruity for Yuki - mai tai, strawberry or mango daquiri, pina coladas, fruit coolers, etc.

I really have to stop now, I'm so making myself want to raid the fridge... ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if it was possible to find at more fancy shops in cities like New York, though. Maybe. (NY strikes me as a place that's more Europe-like than say, LA.)
I suspect it must be available in fancy shops in Japan also, due to the japanese love for french luxe things, but other than that possibility, the only place I've ever found it readily available was in France, but only in certain shops that are more specialized in those things. (I love that chain of shops to no end. X3 And I can SO see Kaname shopping there. XD And dragging Zero along, pointing out yummy things they could eat together, while Zero justs stares with wide open eyes commenting that this is more holidays food than food to have on a normal basis, while Kaname is surprised by that opinion. XD)


Everything is potentially going to turn into a Kaname & Zero plot bunny. D: D: D: *is utterly obsessed* XD XD;;;

About shaved ice, if you have asian markets around, that carry japanese goods, maybe they have the portable little ice-shaving machines with a crank? I'm not sure how good of a shaving job they do, but I've seen those often popping up in japanese supermarkets, usually in a shelf full of syrup bottles of various flavors, as soon as summer approaches.
I know they have them in the west coast of the US, but I'm not sure about elsewhere. ^^;
