Vampire Knight Chapter 41 raws and summary
SQUEEE!!! Chapter 41 of the Vampire Knight Manga is out!! HUGE thank you to Sagakure for letting me know, finding the images and posting a summary!

Wow... all I can say is... wow... for all of us who have been wanting to see a little action work its way into the series, I'd say that is definitely starting to happen! This looks like a very cool chapter, I can't wait to read it!

Still here? Okay, then on with the rambling... ;) Obviously, my thoughts and opinions are just being formed off looking at the raws and reading the summary, so who knows what may change when the scanlations come out, but for now I've quite enough to keep my head spinning! Last chapter was definitely Zero-centric, so it makes sense that this one focuses a bit more on Kaname :) and all the others. Actually I was a bit surprised that Zero makes absolutely no apperance at all, but I imagine that's because Ms. Hino is saving the next time we see him for a climatic moment no doubt. :D
There was some really great/angsty Kaname and Yuki moments in this. The cover pic.... um... *drools, grabs Kaname, hugs Kaname, drools some more* Very cool in an angsty kind of way, especially because Kaname looks so... vulnerable. Although I have to agree with Sagakure's assesment, while I loved this whole chapter (or at least, the pictures and the summary of it LOL) it's also really making me worry for Kaname. *cringes* I have this dreadful feeling he's going to end up dying and I will litterally be horribly depressed if that happens. *sighs and tries not to think about it, hugging her fics and whispering that he shall always be alive in them...*
I'm not going to repeat the summary already given obviously, but I can't help commenting on a lot of stuff that seems to be happening, and I do have to quietly smile and dab my eyes over the Kaname / Yuki kiss. I know, sorry, not gonna make everybody happy, but it was a really sweet moment that both made me smile and tear up at the same time. Although actually in an odd way this is one of the things currently making me the most afraid for my fav pureblood. Because this whole scene played a little too much like a goodbye on some level... *really hopes she's misreading that*
*coughs* okay, sorry, 'nough of the depressing talk. Back to the cool stuff. :)
I loved the Takuma / Shiki / Rima scenes at the beginning! LOL Takuma is cute/scary/awesome having slid into full on protector / battle mode now. And Shiki was cool too, it was great to see him taking a stand and not going to let himself be used anymore (the little flash back with his mom SO fits with the way I like to imagine his past, poor boy). :D
All our NC vamps were just awesome *sighs with happiness* I really adore seeing them all stepping up and going on alert like this, Kain, Ruka, Aido, all of them, it's really cool.
OH! Grin moment that must be mentioned - YenGirl, I thought of you when I saw this in the raws - guess who Kaname has take Yori away to safety? Aido. :D So we get at least two nice little frames where he's holding her arm or kind of her hand. ;) LOL I know, I'm a goober, but I thought it was cool.
Apparently we also get some awesomeness from Chairman Cross and Yagari, which I find unexpectedly cool. I have to admit I'm quite shocked at the idea (if I'm understanding this right) that the Hunter's Association actually intends to execute the Night Class! Um, hello? Don't they think they're going to tick off just a few vampire families if they slaughter their children? But then, it looks like this is the first stages of a war, so they probably don't care. Plus, they may be counting on the fact that Rido is on their side, and it has already been established that the Kurans could step back in and redemand 'kingship' at any time they chose... *shivers*
I can't say how cool it is though, that Cross and Yagari alone stand against what is happening, that Cross, a former hunter, is fully prepared to fight his own and face probable death to defend the Night Class.
...who are now currently the ones trying to defend all the Day Class students back at the Academy... ooooohhh the whole set up is just awesome. *quivers in excitment*
Hey, on a side note, does it not seem terribly creepy to anyone else that the Hunter's association actually seems to be keeping a reserve of tamed vampires themselves? I mean, I know back when Yuki, Cross and Zero went to the Association headquarters (and I wanted to kick them all for the way they treated Zero - you know, really, they treated him just as bad as the vampires would, maybe worse) they all seemed to know about 'tamed' vampires, but it didn't really make an impression on me until now that it was possible they might be in the business of taming/binding vampire slaves themselves. *blinks* I may be totally misreading this, but if it actually is playing the way I'm reading it... O.O (Right now I'm assuming this is only possible with ex-humans like Zero, but I could be totally wrong about that too... oh my gosh, the bunnies, the bunnies... *tries not to get carried away by them*)
If that is the case though, I guess Zero really did end up in a very fortunate position... not only to avoid being held as the captive/servant of some vampire pureblood or noble, but also to avoid being used by the Association... although it does seem they were trying come to think of it, although Cross was sheilding him as much as he could.
Anyway, Kaname is off somewhere, to face someone... alone... *gulps* Have to admit, I would really love to have something happen where Zero ends up having to save him :D but we'll see what happens. Looks like Cross and Yagari might just need some saving too soon. *gulps again*

About the Hunter's Association, yeah, I was shocked too, didn't expect them to move out so boldly.
And yep, they are totally playing the Rido card. They're on Rido's side, which means the council side, and the president of the hunters said they intend to blame the conflict on the Night class. (I should have mentioned that in the summary. *forgot* I forgot lots of little things as I ran in circles and focused on Kaname. XD;;; *lol*)
With both hunters & council claiming its their fault, even the families would have their hands tied.
Plus, Rido had stated before that he intended to kill all the royalist faction members, starting with their children (the night class is all from the royalist faction, save for Shiki & Ichijou), so it's a tragic but logical progression.
Even if their parents rebel, he had planned to kill them too anyway so it won't change anything. ^^;;
As for the tamed vampires, yep, there's a lot of interesting stuff... we know the hunter's association used to have and probably still has special prisons made to hold vampires in...(like the one Zero was in hidden in the academy's old building part) and when they had visited the headquarters in the chapter you mentioned, the guy had indeed looked at Zero's neck mark and recognized it right away saying he was branded as a tamed vampire... the ennemy ones we see bear the same mark on their bodies.
I do think they intended to use Zero for their purposes too, but it didn't quite go as they planned, especially with whose blood he's drank. ;3
The question of whether or not purebloods could be branded and enslaved too is a fascinating one, and while I was already plot bunning about it mildly before chapter 41, now it's full blast. XDDDD (*has a plot bunny about that that's still underdevelopped but sure to grow* X3)
I think it would be hard... but maybe they could use a more powerful version of the mark. :X
I also have a plot bunny where Zero marks Kaname with a similar symbol, and its their secret. XD (It's vaguely inspired from the love/marriage belonging brand in MeruPuri, Hino-sensei's previous manga. XD) Which has the side effect of Kaname being able to walk into the hunter's building fine, much to the shock of the people inside it. *lol* (Weeeell, even wihtout it, I doubt their anti-vampire things would stop him. *lol* But maybe they could, or at least it should make it difficult. *lol* XD)
I'm so hoping Kaname will be okay. ;___; *clings to him* The cover was pretty, but also so frightening, the way he looked so lost, glazed eyes, holding onto Yuuki like that.... Yuuuuki, take better care of poor Kaname~! T^T
My husband suggested that (little by little, I drag him into VK XD XD *lol*) maybe Kaname looked so desperate because when he drank Yuuki's blood (in the pic in the cover), he felt her feelings in it, and saw they weren't only for him? (We're going towards "Checkmate" now.... XD;;;;;;;; *lol* Speaking of which, I have to update it this weekend. XD)
Since they can tell the feelings from drinking the blood and all...
In the past, Zero told Yuuki he had tasted in her blood that she desired Kaname to have drank her blood and not Zero. But now, things might have evolved... D:

Hmm I'm guessing Kaname is off to help the Chairman and Yagari while Yuki is going after Zero?
I wouldn't think Kaname is going after Rido since he basically sicced Zero on him and then washed his hands of Zero.
Perhaps Kaname feels responsible for helping the Chairman because set Cross Academy as his staging ground for the epic battle of epicness.
Zero and Kaname are both so tragic, neither of them deserves to die =/ (Actually, I'd rather Yuki go and those two console each other).
But that Kaname scene does look like a sort of farewell and since Zero is the vampire knight, we know he's going to survive.
And I find it very interesting that Yuki's anti vampire weapon turned into a new weapon <3

Grrr... Yeah, I figured they'd try to play it as the NC's fault, the jerks... *chuckles* although secretly I'm delighted of course because I just *knew* that when everything went down, anyone loyal to Kaname was going to come under fire and it's a great opportunity for everyone to see a little action now. *grins and reaches for the popcorn* JUST SO LONG AS THEY DON'T KILL ANYONE. I so don't want to see any character death in this manga except for baddies. LOL I know, I'm not one to talk... *hides the Chairman and Yuki's tombstones in her fics* but still... :P *attempts to glare in the vauge direction of Japan... can't figure out which way it is from where she's currently sitting and gives up*
That's a cool idea about the mutual brand / mark thing. I did think that was kind of neat in MeriPuri.
Interesting thought there on Kaname's expression on the cover too! *hugs him and is not sure if she should be hoping that he's feeling heartbroken or critically injured* LOL
Michelle: Yeah, it wouldn't make sense for Kaname to face Rido since he knows what will happen, so it's probably that or a showdown with the elder Ichijo who is obviously heavily involved in all this.
I know, I feel the same about the dying thing. *giggles*
You know, although I would actually hate to see it really happen because it would be too sad, I have to admit I bet that would be one twist nobody would see coming... if Yuki actually ended up sacrificing herself to save both Zero and Kaname. *sniffs*
That was cool the way the staff transformed. Neat that it looks like that sycle thing that Kaname's holding in that one cover pic of he and Zero from a while ago. Either it has signifcance, or more likely, Ms. Hino must like that shape. :D

Oh my goodness, I am definately on adrenaline high after reading the raws for this chapter. Lots of action coming into play and that does make me happy indeed.
I haven't read the summary yet per se, just looked at the pics and I think I'll just stick with that until the translation comes out. But anyway, based on what I see I also have that dreaded feeling something tragic rolling down the pike in the future.
*hugs Kaname* Oh please don't go off and break all our hearts! *sniffles* I must admit that the kiss also got me going too. So undeniably sweet and heartstring tugging.
*lets out a small fangirl squeal at Shiki/Takuma/Rima moments at the beginning* Am I right in what I saw and did Shiki hug Rima? Or was that still a flashback part? Maybe I went through it too fast, but I thought it was Rima there, which would definately be cool. But can't forget the awesomeness of Takuma either. Protector / battle mode on!

Ohh! *grins widely* I certainly like the little Aido / Yori moment there. Take care of her, Aido! ^.^ So simple, but it makes me so gleefully happy to see.
Then we get towards the end. Kick ass to see Yuuki back in her Day Class uniform! Absolutely LOVED that she chose to do that. Forget vampire side, invoke that Prefect mode full force, use those extra vampire powers and KICK RIDO's ASS! *coughs and composes self again*
Gotta admit that the Artemis Rod transforming into a Scythe has definately got me intrigued. I have to admit though that it's quite fitting for Yuuki.
I sense more action building, but that's going to be awesome. If anything, this definately sets off the inspiration. Definately wondering where things are going. So long as NO ONE DIES! *totally agress with Vani on that*

I totally agree with Yen on that one. If anything did happen (and I cross my fingers and toes that it doesn't), all these lovely fics must be hugged and never let go! ^.^

Man...the scene in which Yuuki's former weapon changes...that's kinda cool...and she looks kinda bad-ass wielding it in my opinion. The scene in which she kisses Kaname definitely looks like a foreshadowing in a certain way, not sure how though.
As for the stuff about ShikixRima...definitely looks cute. (Wish there was more fanfics with those two).
Soooo looking forward to that chapter.
