No More Dance Lyrics - by NOX
I've been unable to find a written version of the English lyrics for the NOX song "No More Dance" anywhere on the net. So I've listened to it many, many times and tried to write the lyrics down myself. Only problem is there's a number of points where I just can't tell what they're saying. Some places I have tried to make an educated guess, some I just can't get at all. Maybe you can help me peice it together! :)
I'd also love to hear what the actual translation of the Hungarian lyrics would be too.
Hear the song, watch the video on YouTube
"No More Dance"
by NOX
Watching, sailing, summers fly
And mountains try on winter's sigh
Say the words tell me slowly, deeper
And the soul cannot lose the deceiver
Your face can turn a wicked side
Fear is graceful in your eyes
As anger cuts you down to size
When (something) has a chance you are growing
When you fight like a man you'll be knowing
Bow your head to ease the lie
(or possibly ' Bow your head to his delight')
Ancient signs, on your design
Love and pain, sword and chain
If your game is a crime you can solve it
Realize that your heart is a culprit
Oh, your dance is in vain
Ancient signs, on your design
Shy and vain, pride and shame
(or possibly: Try in vain, cry in shame)
What you find in your past can you take it?
(something, something, something) and break it
Oh, your dance is in vain...
Singing tuneless lullabies
Dreaming of the bluest skies
Say I'll dance 'til he comes to defeat you
And your vengeance is when he needs you
Your soul surrenders deep inside
See to (something, something) and cry
The fount of ancient blood is dry
The flame's not a flame but it burns you
Your face is disgraced as it turns to
The darker side of living (fire?)
Ancient signs, on your design
Love and pain, sword and chain
If your game is a crime you can solve it
Realize that your heart is a culprit
Oh, your dance is in vain
Ancient signs, on your design
Shy and vain, pride and shame
What you find in your past can you take it?
(something, something, something) and break it
Oh, your dance is in vain...
Fight your fight, bring war to life
Freedom's mine, we share the light
My people sigh, so here we are
The child within seeks peace without
Ancient signs, on your design
Love and pain, sword and chain
If your game is a crime you can solve it
Realize that your heart is a culprit
Oh, your dance is in vain
Ancient signs, on your design
Shy and vain, pride and shame
What you find in your past can you take it?
(something, something, something) and break it
Oh, your dance is in vain.

I sent a message to a Hungarian NOX fan, maybe he will help us...
"When (something) has a chance you are growing" - I think that "something" can be "war"...maybe...I couldn't understand the other missing parts, sorry.
But I tried to translate the song on my own...Well, I'm sure I made a lot of language and grammar mistakes, I wasn't sure about the correct Time Tense either sometimes, but I tried...
If you think the translation needs correction, do it leisurely. I know it'f far from good. I hope it's at least understandable....
NO MORE DANCE
How long does a beautiful summer last,
How long does a wonderful land last?
Until weapon develops rust
Until human sees human-,
But there’s a wicked charm inside us
You already fear it’s might
You have already felt it’s anger-,
When fire attacks, you claw too:
Maybe you can survive if you fight-,
But at this rate you just fulfill it’s order
Chorus:
It has been waiting for us, harmful flame-,
A crazy desire: sword and chain.
Hide or don’t, the shadow is coming,
The game ends here-,
Oh, there won’t be more dance!
It has been waiting for us, it wished for blood
But if you take revenge, you won’t see light!
Hide or don’t, the shadow is coming,
Because the wound from yesterday sill hurts-,
Oh, there won’t be more dance!
How long will the gentle words protect,
How long will you stay dreamy? (dreaming?)
Until you keep the light you feel,
Until you treasure other’s smile-,
Till the magician lives inside you!
But there has always been a dark desire-,
You suffered, when it consumed you.
’Cos it ignored your dream,
That you will play your life until you die
And there will always be a dark desire…
Why do you need fight, why don’t you live?
Your dream is different, you wish for light.
Why do you need fight, if you fear in it’s tears?
Only sadness awaits you, if you step into the swirl
Chorus:
It has been waiting for us, harmful flame-,
A crazy desire: sword and chain.
Hide or don’t, the shadow is coming,
The game ends here-,
Oh, there won’t be more dance!
It has been waiting for us, it wished for blood
But if you take revenge, you won’t see light!
Hide or don’t, the shadow is coming,
Because the wound from yesterday sill hurts-,
Oh, there won’t be more dance!

Okay, cool, I would love to see his thoughts about the lyrics as well. :)
WOW! That's beautiful, and beautifully translated! I like your translation! It certainly makes the most sense and it's perfectly understandable. :)
Ooooh.. I love those lyrics too! They fit really well with VK as well. The whole song puts me in mind of the conflict between the humans and vampires - the war that the peaceful co-exsistance supporters like Kaname and the Chairman are trying to avoid.
Even the lines about "there will always be a dark desire" work really well, cause you could kind of see that refering to the vampires need for blood...
LOL okay, sorry, getting slightly off track here, but I love finding song lyrics that are so delightfully inspiring! Thank you for the translation, it's really good!

Yes, I hope he will answer my message soon...
Thank you for supporting me, you make me feel wanting to learn and try more and more...Even if I always notice my mistakes AFTER I post my comments...but you never scold me...and I have learnt a lot from you! :)
Your soulful expressions and words are always making me think of a better phrasing. Nowadys I'm stucked to the dictionary and my grammar book, trying to find a better way to express my thoughts.
The English lyrics are interesting as well. There are similarities between the complex meanings of the lyrics...They are both about comparing war to peace...resisting deep, agressive instincts...like "If your game is a crime you can solve it
Realize that your heart is a culprit"
It suggests to choose the pacific way to solve conflicts...
Yes, I thought something alike about the song. Actually, it resembled me when Shizuka came to the Academy, and Zero met her....
Yes...the dark desire, the need for blood...revenge...like when Kaname killed old Ichijo...he had almost(??) cracked down...lucky he had Zero...:)))
I also love songs that are thoughtful and inspirating (especially VK inspirating :D). I have a lot that I would like to share with you...but they don't have an English translation...and I don't want to turn your blog into a lyrics-translates discussing place....and I don't want to force you to read my translations either...
But if you are intrested in those songs, I will show you links, and I will try to figure out how to send you the translations...I will ask for help to make them more enjoyable, if you want me to try it.
Really, only if this isn't bothering you. I don't want to expropriate you or your blog.

You're right, it is interesting to see the parallels between the two translations. YES! Makes me think of those moments too... ;)
Thank you, I'm so glad maybe I can be at least a little helpful or encouraging to you, after you have been so wonderfully inspiring to me. :D
Wait, wait... did you seriously say *force* me to read your translations?! FORCE? I would love to read them!!
And I would dearly love to listen to / discover any more songs that you cared to share. Our taste in music seems very similiar and I am really enjoying discovering music I would never have come across otherwise.
Don't worry about hijacking my blog at all, it certainly doesn't bother me. Quite the opposite. I really enjoy music and discussing music lyrics and what they make me think of, it's great to find someone else who enjoys it too! I would love to listen to and discuss any music and translations you wanted to share!
In fact... I'm not above begging... :D *hopeful smile*

Wow...thank you...I honestly wouldn't try anything like this if you haven't encouraged me....I hope you will find these songs inspirating too :)
The first one is 'To Love Someone Because of Something' by Republic.
They are quite famous in Hungary. Especially because of this song:)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmfwpBF2iwY
And the translated lyrics:
(again, correct it if you want to)
REPUBLIC: LOVING SOMEONE BECAUSE OF
SOMETHING
It’s a long way until my hand reaches yours
To love someone because of something
No one knows or understands why
To love someone because of something
Through thousands of lives and hardships
To love someone because of something
Even if it cannot be, if it hurts
To love someone because of something
The sky is above, the Earth is beneath
We dream then wake up
Every road leads around
This is peace, forget every
war.
It’s snowing and the wind blowes in my eyes
To love someone because of something
The candle is flaming and flaming, it mustn’t burn out
To love someone because of something
Through thousands of lives and hardships
To love someone because of something
Even if it cannot be, if it hurts
To love someone because of something
The sky is above, the Earth is beneath
We dream then wake up
Every road leads around
This is peace, forget every
war.
The sky is above, the Earth is beneath
We dream then wake up
Every road leads around
This is peace, forget every
war.

About the first song...well...it reminds me of Kaname and Yuuki...he couldn't tell anyone, even Yuuki, why has he always loved her...he had to stay away from her for years...he wanted to protect her even from her memories...the war, her parents' death...
If you don't mind, I have a second one too....This is the 'Thousand Moons' by Crystal.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMy-M2JBxYA
CRYSTAL: THOUSAND MOONS
Every desire and dream of yours
Is in your hand’s reach
Tomorrow you will win
Every old battle for sure
That struggle was yesterday
So just dream, live happily
I will be here and protect you
If night falls upon us (oh, the night!)
Bring the distance close
Or a star down here
Guard that flame for me
Which blazes inside me as well
It must burn more and even more
Which drives and follows us
Don’t ever think of the evil
Until the fire burns inside us
Chorus:
Thousand moons
And every stars are looking for you
Tell me where you are!
I have to know where you go.
Thousand moons
And every stars are guarding our dream
Now that you are here
Light will follow us forever
I know that nothing bad can happen to me
But it’s bad that you are missing
I will take on every fight, if it’s needed
Because I fear for our dreams
It must burn more and even more
Which drives and follows us
Don’t ever think of the evil
Until the fire burns inside us
Chorus:
Thousand moons
And every stars are looking for you
Tell me where you are!
I have to know where you go.
Thousand moons
And every stars are guarding our dream
Now that you are here
Light will follow us forever
My favourite part is:
'Guard that flame for me
Which blazes inside me as well
It must burn more and even more
Which drives and follows us
Don’t ever think of the evil
Until the fire burns inside us'
Kaname and Zero after the battle? :D

I love those!! They're great! The translations you did are absolutely beautiful. The lyrics themselves are lovely and the way you laid them out is perfect. You asked me to correct anything out of place, but there's nothing to correct! :D There aren't any present-tense/past-tense or grammatical errors at all. It all just flows and is very well done. :) I think the only thing I could even see in there is that one word has an extra "e" in it – "blowes" should be "blows" but that's it. I'm very much impressed with your language skills!
Thank you so much for sharing and opening this new world of music to me through your wonderful translations! I am now accumulating so many new favorite songs!
I have to agree, the first one definitely makes me think of Kaname and Yuki. Especially this verse:
It’s snowing and the wind blows in my eyes
To love someone because of something
The candle is flaming and flaming, it mustn’t burn out
To love someone because of something
Through thousands of lives and hardships
To love someone because of something
Even if it cannot be, if it hurts
To love someone because of something
Snow seems to be very much tied to the two of them, so the whole bit with the snow and wind is just perfect. And the rest of the verse works very well too, as does the whole song like you said so beautifully. :)
I love the Celtic feel of the second one, that's got a really nice rhythm to it. YUP! Your favorite part is also my favorite part! And I agree, it definitely makes me think of Kaname and Zero... :D
Thank you again so much for sharing!!! This is such fun! :)

You can't imagine how happy you made me....I was so afraid I messed it up...yeah, that extra "e"...thanks for telling me:)
I hope I will be able to help you and your muse in the future like this :)
I am so grateful for your compliment, because now I can see the reason why it was worth learning for over ten years...
Yes, the snowing part definitely referred to Yuuki for me as well.
I love the Celtic rhythm too. I learnt Irish dance a few years ago, and I'm still addicted to songs that have similar style:)
The Crystal's first album is full of songs like this one...The 'Two Travellers' is also very good...

Nope! Didn't mess up at all, it was beautiful.
My muse and I are glad to have your inspirational input any time! You have definitely inspired me more than I can say. :D I might very well still be stuck in my writing slump if it weren't for you. Thank you my friend.
Wow, 10 years? You've been working for a long time, no wonder you're so good! And you can do irish dance too? Now I'm just jealous, you are so talented! ;D
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll definitely have to check out that whole album.

Here's the lyrics that I can make out from the song, but I can't get the penultimate line of the chorus '... and break it'! Here they are anyway:
No more dance
Watching sailing summers fly
And mountains’ shine on winter’s sigh
‘Till the rest of the soul is deeper
And the soul cannot pose the deceiver
A face can turn a wicked side
Fear is graceful in your eyes
As anger cuts you down to size
When a war has a chance, you are growing
Will you flight like the man you’ll be mourning?
Bow your head to his delight
Ancient signs on your design
Love and pain, sword and chain
If your game is a crime you can solve it
Realize that your heart is a culprit
Oh, your dance is in vain
Ancient signs on your design
Shine and rain, pride and shame
What you find in your past, can you take it?
… and brake it
Oh, your dance is in vain
Singing soothing lullabies
Dreaming under the bluest skies
‘Till your destiny comes to defeat you
And your vengeance wins when it eats you
Your soul somehow lies deep inside
See two brothers kill and cry
The fount of ancient blood is dry
Play with the flame while it burns you
Your face, a disgrace as it turns to
The darker side of living fire
Ancient signs on your design
Love and pain, sword and chain
If your game is a crime you can solve it
Realize that your heart is a culprit
Oh, your dance is in vain
Ancient signs on your design
Shine and rain, pride and shame
What you find in your past, can you take it?
… and brake it
Oh, your dance is in vain
Fight your fight, bring woe to life
Freedom’s mine, we shed no light
My people sigh, so here we are
The time within seeks peace without
Ancient signs on your design
Love and pain, sword and chain
If your game is a crime you can solve it
Realize that your heart is a culprit
Oh, your dance is in vain
Ancient signs on your design
Shine and rain, pride and shame
What you find in your past, can you take it?
… and brake it
Oh, your dance is in vain

I know, that one line completely eluded me too, and continues to, no matter how many times I listen to it. LOL ah well...
Wow! Thanks for the great transcription though, you were definitely able to catch more than I was and that's the most complete set of lyrics for it that I've seen yet.
Thank you very much for sharing!!

I read the lyrics... they`re pretty good and I managed to correct some of your mistakes.
1. The lyric in the second stanza: "When the world has a chance you are growing".
2. The last lyric in the 2nd stanza: "Bow your head to his delight".
3. The second stanza of the refrain is like this:
"Ancient signs on your design Shrine and vain, pride and shame What you find in your past, can you take it?
Because you're looking the rest, all of brake it
Oh, your dance is in vain".
4. The two stanzas after the refrain are like this:
"Singing soothing lullabies Dreaming under the bluest skies Till your destiny comes to defeat you
And your vengeance assumes when it meets you
Your soul sorrow lies deep inside
See two brothers kill and cry
The fount of ancient blood is dry Play with the flame while it burns you
Your face, a disgrace as it turns to
The darker side of living fire"
Hope you find these useful ;)
